Friday, August 29th, 2008All Cabot Lyman needed to do was sail NEW MORNING a couple of times before he knew that this was a world class sailing machine. We at Paine Yacht Design knew that, of course, and by working together with Cabot and J.B., we have tweaked her into a mid-fifties offshore cruiser with immense appeal to knowledgeable sailors. Together we are developing an interior that will serve four to six crew in open ocean conditions. The Lyman Morse 54 is destined to become the ultimate aft cockpit sailing yacht of the decade. She’s fast, she’s stiff, and her fixed dodger provides a sheltered place from which to pilot her and watch the waters of the world slip rapidly astern.

Monday, August 18th, 2008New Morning Interior
Monday, August 18th, 2008I just realized I promised you a photo of the Lyman-Morse 54 New Morning’s interior, which then slipped my mind. Here it is. Its a stunning example of a minimalist style, with the blond wood beautifully set off by the varnished teak cabin soles and soft tan leather. The unique interior design is the result of a collaboration between owner Fay Mark and interior designer Jane Plachter of Florida. For this sort of interior to succeed the joinerwork must be absolutely perfect. Less perfect in this photo is the artwork… the owners have not selected theirs yet so I took the liberty of photoshopping in one of my own humble efforts. Still, with that imperfection, it’s a beautiful space to be in.
