Having authored over 800 sailing yachts, there are many existing owners and even more aspiring owners who seek advice as to what advantages and flaws my designs might have, or what improvements might best be made when a used yacht is purchased, or what designs by other designers might be an even better choice for you than one of mine. I am happy to answer these and any questions you may have, and I can assure you I’m pretty long in the tooth, and can probably come up with insights that can be of great value to you.
At present I am helping three owners of old (over 40 years), “kitboat” FRANCES 26 hulls that will benefit from a fresh approach to their sailplans. Nobody has drawn more sailplans for the Frances than I, nor knows which ones work the best and which ones don’t. One of these owners is investing in a new carbon fiber mast, new rigging including a roller-furler for the jib and a solid vang (not yet invented when I originally designed the boat), and new sails. He will clearly have the finest FRANCES in the world once these improvements are made. All at a fee that is guaranteed to be great value for money, as I have no idea how much he will pay me!
